Liverpool’s LightNight is Back in May With a Brand New Theme

LightNight Liverpool 2021

LightNight, the popular annual one-night Festival of Art and Culture in Liverpool, is back on Friday 21st May centred around the theme of ‘Play’. This year’s festival will be a trail of physical and virtual events suitable for all ages, so there’s definitely going to be something for everyone!

After a year in which the arts have taken a beating, people have realised how vital different art forms are as a form of expression and as a source of comfort and joy. Charlotte Corrie, Director of Open Culture who organise the event, says;

“We chose the theme of ‘Play’ because, over the past year, it has come into sharp focus how much we rely on our artistic community for both levity and reflection.”

Open Culture has set up a crowdfunder with a target of £3,500, which they hope will fill the gap left by not selling physical festival guides this year. The money raised will go towards continuing their work supporting new events and artists commissions.

The festival events programme will be released on 5th May and can be found here.
