Every resident of Liverpool will live no more than ten minutes away from a high-quality green space – that is the ambition of Liverpool City Council as they announce their Great Outdoors Pledge. This is just one of the ten promises outlined in the pledge, but it is the one that will have the most impact on our city in the future.

In partnership with the charity Fields in Trust, Liverpool is the first local authority to commit to a pledge like this, guaranteeing that Liverpool’s 100 parks and other green spaces will not be built on or sold off. Fab news for the people of Liverpool!

Twenty areas will be protected in the first 12 months, with more to follow over the next year or two. Liverpool’s Acting Mayor, Wendy Simon, proudly announced that;

‘This new initiative means we can ensure everyone has access to free, local outdoor spaces for sport, play and recreation, forever.’
