Sounds in The Park Programme

If you are in the mood for listening to beautiful music in stunning surroundings, then make your way down to Calderstones this summer. The beautiful Garden Theatre stage will play host to ‘Sounds in the Park’ – a series of open-air concerts showcasing early music.

The concerts are the result of a collaboration between The Reader and Early Music as Education. Each concert has been inspired by texts from The Reader Bookshelf (an annual programme of curated literature), whose theme this year is ‘Walking The Earth’. One of the concerts includes a sacred music production based on the oldest written story on earth, The Epic of Gilgamesh.

Early Music as Education’s mission is to bring early music to as broad an audience as possible, believing that it can transform lives irrespective of age or background. They have recently launched a successful music education programme, and their ensemble, the Early Music Youth Orchestra, is going from strength to strength.

Set in the gorgeous surroundings of the art-deco garden theatre, Sounds in the Park, is sure to be a treat for the eyes and ears. So bring your picnic blanket and sit back and relax. You can even order a picnic to enjoy while you listen.

Tickets can be bought here.
