These Are The Regeneration Projects Southport Has Agreed To!

Southport’s Town Deal Plan is now picking up apace after The Southport Town Deal Board agreed on which projects from the plan will receive funding. In what is one of the largest Town Deals ever, Southport is receiving £37.5 million from the original bid of £50 million – still a whopping amount of cash!!

Now the Town Deal Board have the unenviable job of deciding which projects receive either full or partial funding. The projects that will hopefully be progressing with Town Deal Funding (subject to the Government giving a thumbs up) are;

Enterprise Arcade

Refurbishing the Crown Buildings is the main aim of this project to turn it into a business space that will support the emerging creative, digital and tech sector in the Southport area.

Marine Lake Events Centre

This project aims to transform the Southport Theatre and Convention Centre into a top-notch entertainment and business events venue.

The Light Fantastic

Marine Lake is the focal point of this project, and the plans aim to create the UK’s first water, light and sound show which will hopefully bring more visitors to the area.

Les Transformations de Southport

This project aims to create high-quality public spaces and a good transport network that is accessible to everyone. Improving the area for walkers and cyclists is another aim of this project.

Building Better Customer Experience

This does exactly what it says on the tin. This project will work with a range of businesses and local stakeholders to deliver training and development programmes for anyone who has contact with visitors to Southport, thus providing a better customer experience for all visitors.

Exciting stuff!
