Sandgrounders have much to smile about after it was announced that the town is set to receive a whopping £37.5 million in government funding to rejuvenate the town centre and sea-front. 101 towns across the country have been awarded funding for various projects, with Southport’s being one of the largest. The Southport Town Deal Board’s hard work and the high quality of the plans put forward in the Town Investment Plan have paid off. As well as providing money to boost existing attractions, it will also go towards creating new attractions on the sea-front and enterprise hubs in the town centre.
It is hoped that the investment will help to create 1,000 new jobs, 300 construction jobs and attract over 1 million more tourists. The plan is to get started on the projects as soon as possible. After a tough year, Southport most definitely has something to smile about! Learn more here.
