It’s no secret that Liverpool has some incredible theatres showcasing some of the world’s top global and local performances.

Unity Theatre

Unity Theatre has a varied programme of events which aim to encourage emerging artists, help them find their voice and explore their personal, social and political worlds. It engages audiences with performances that both entertain and inspire, cleverly using the intimate performance space. This space allows audiences to become up-close and personal with the performers.

With close ties to both with both Arts Council England and Liverpool City Council, this location supports all aspects of theatre production while keeping the community at the heart of every performance.

Playhouse & Everyman

The close relationship between these two iconic Liverpool theatre’s drives both of them to push the boundaries with their productions. The Playhouse has a more traditional stage compared to the versatility of the Everyman’s  modern space and this enables the resident actors to explore different ways of staging productions.

These theatres thrive on communication between the local community and performers, creating new and topical shows as well as introducing new talent annually. Their “… mission is to dazzle and inspire, reflect the aspirations and concerns of our audiences and fuel civic pride.” They also bring national and international companies to Liverpool and give young people an outlet for their creativity through their award-winning youth arts programme (YEP).

Royal Court

The Royal Court stages many inspiring performances that reflect the community of Liverpool.  This independent theatre will have you laughing and singing and leave you proud and happy to support the amazing local talented cast and crew.

Liverpool Empire

A theatre has stood on this Lime Street site since 1866. Over the years it has attracted many notable names and faces, and experienced many ups and downs before becoming the Liverpool Empire we have come to know and love. It is the place that started many love affairs with big musical performances and the stage, bringing the West End to the North West and making anything seem possible.

This is not strictly a theatre but it is worth look at their programme of community performances, live art and talks. It is a great space, not to be underestimated, and always worth a mention.

Capstone Theatre

This International Arts Venue is linked with Liverpool Hope University. It frequently play host to concerts by leading national and international musicians, and has a vibrant multi-arts programme. It is home to some of the best local and global musicians, spoken word events, radio broadcasts, plays, dance performances and film screenings. It has also hosted the annual Liverpool International Jazz Festival since 2013.
