How Liverpool’s E-Scooters Have Been Made (a Little) Safer

Voi e-scooter liverpool

The introduction of E-Scooters in Liverpool last year has proved hugely successful with over 800,000 rides being taken and over 1.8 million miles travelled in total!

As the scooter scheme is still operating on a trial basis, tweaks are always being made to improve the scheme based on feedback from users and members of the public. While most users are responsible, both the e-scooter operator ‘Voi‘ and Liverpool City Council are working towards making the scheme even safer. As such, the following changes have been made to the scheme;

New Parking Bays

Over 400 parking bays will be added across Liverpool over the coming months. £25 fines will still be issued for illegal or dangerous parking.

Weekend Limits

Stricter limits are to be put in place on riding at the weekend with a 9pm cut-off on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and additional ‘no riding zones’ in certain areas.

More Robust Strike Policy

There will be a stronger enforcement of Voi’s existing strike policy. Users who break the rules of the road could be issued with temporary (a week or a month) or permanent bans.

Move to Fixed Parking Model

Over the summer there will be a move from the free-floating model where users can park their bikes anywhere they choose, to designated areas where they are allowed to park the scooters.

Over the past 9 months the trial and proved so popular that it is now one of the most successful in Europe! So get on yer bike and see the city from a whole new perspective!
