Liverpool Theatres Are Hosting a 10-Day Arts Festival At The End of June!

Angel Field Festival 2021

An Arts Festival based on the themes of Communication and Information will take place at the end of the month in Liverpool Hope’s Capstone and Cornerstone theatres. The Angel Field Festival will take place over ten days from Thursday 24th June to Saturday 3rd July.

Notable acts to watch out for include ‘The Ballad of Mulan’, a stunning stage performance telling the true story of the Chinese heroine Mulan who inspired the Disney film. Other headline acts include the band Django Rhinestone and magician and performer Vincent Gambini. Classical music lovers will not be disappointed as contemporary chamber music ensemble rarescale will be performing, as well as Liverpool composer Steven Pratt.

In keeping with the festival’s theme of Communication and Information, there will also be two sound installations to entertain audiences. ‘About Us-For Us’ will feature phone calls of residents of West Everton recorded during the pandemic. The other sound installation, Simul Sunder, allows audiences to immerse themselves into the exhibition by selecting YouTube videos which are then put through digital processors to create unique soundscapes. Sounds cool!

There will also be a rare screening of the Charlie Chaplin film ‘The Kid, which will be screened in Hope’s Capstone Theatre. This theatre was built on the primary school site that Chaplin attended during his brief time living in Everton as a boy – who knew?!

The festival may well be one of the first fully live festivals to take place since the pandemic and social distancing will be adhered to in the theatres. There is no doubt that this festival has something for everyone so make sure you don’t miss out!
