Spring has well and truly sprung, and with it, the trees all over our region are bursting into life with beautiful displays of blossom. To celebrate the brief but beautiful blooms, The National Trust has just launched its second #blossomwatch campaign.
Blossomwatch has been established to encourage the British public to get outdoors to enjoy the fleeting arrival of blossom. They hope that this will eventually become an annual tradition along the same lines as ‘hanami’, the Japanese custom of celebrating the brief explosion of sight and scent that blossom provides every spring.
The initiative proved hugely popular last year, with thousands of people sharing images on social media. This year the National Trust is taking it a step further and plans to track the progress of blossom across the country.
