Tickle The Ivories Are Back at Liverpool ONE!

Tickle The Ivories Liverpool 2021

Liverpool ONE is 13!! To celebrate this milestone and herald the easing of lockdown restrictions, there are several events to look forward to over the next few months. To kick it all off, the much-loved ‘Tickle the Ivories’ piano’s will be making a welcome return.

Over the bank-holiday weekend, the piano’s were christened with performances by viral social media star Harrison Crane (remember his funky 90’s dance covers?) and Liverpool legend Frank McFarlane. This blind pianist is known around Liverpool ONE for his many years tickling the ivories around the city centre.

The Tickle the Ivories festival will continue through June and July, so there is plenty of time to make your way there for a tickle yourself! There are currently three piano’s dotted around, with two more being added once restrictions are (hopefully) lifted on 21st June.

Donna Howitt, Place Strategy Director at Liverpool ONE, explains how important the festival is after the troubles of the last year;

“Bringing back Tickle the Ivories is something we have looked forward to since the festival was scaled down last year for the first time in a decade.
Liverpool is known for its incredibly rich musical talent and is full of undiscovered stars, which is why we want to encourage our visitors to come along and get involved, whether that be seasoned performers or simply those who want to give it go.”

So, what are you waiting for? Get down to Liverpool ONE and tickle those ivories!
