Work on New Everton Stadium Set to Start On 26 July

Everton Stadium Mockup

The move into Everton’s new home has moved one step closer with the announcement that the club will officially take possession of the site at Bramley- Moore Dock on 26th July. The ambitious £500m proposal was approved by Liverpool City Council in February and was signed off by the Government in March. Work on the site (including the whopping 53,000 capacity stadium) is due to start immediately with contractor Laing O’Rourke at the helm.

The first phase of the work includes repairing and preserving the grade two listed dock wall and stabilising the hydraulic tower that’s located at the site. Pipework will then be installed in preparation for the next major stage of the work – infilling the dock. No mean feat!

The commencing of work on the site is long-awaited, as Everton Chairman Bill Kenwright explains;

This will be a momentous day in the history of the club and is testament to the ambition and financial commitment of the owner.”

The project will also have a positive impact on the local community with the creation of up to 15,000 jobs and providing a much needed boost to the local economy. It is also estimated that the stadium will attract roughly 1.4million visitors a year to the area.

So, it might be sad to say goodbye to Goodison Park, but the future looks bright for Everton in their brand new home.
