Several Liverpool businesses have recently partnered with the surplus food app ‘Too Good To Go’ in an effort to fight food waste in the region. ‘Too Good To Go’ is the world’s largest surplus food app, with over 13,000 businesses taking part in the scheme in the UK. It is now expanding its presence in Liverpool and has 140 businesses signed up.

Too Good To Go enables customers to buy surplus food direct from restaurants, pubs, retailers and food producers to stop it from going to waste. Once you have downloaded the app (it’s free!), you can search for local businesses with unsold produce. Then you purchase a ‘magic bag’ and collect it at a pre-arranged time. Simples!

Some of the local businesses who have signed up for the scheme include; The Crosby Bakehouse (Gluten-Free and Vegan cakes), Root 22 (Organic Whole-Foods Store), A Slower Space (Coffee and Pastries) and Organico (Plant-based juice bar and eatery).

Too Good to Go recently commissioned a consumer survey in Liverpool and discovered that 82% of the people surveyed believed that businesses should not be wasting food. 57% said they would consider using a business they hadn’t previously if they knew it focused on sustainability.

So if you are interested in eating more sustainably, sign up to the Too Good To Go app and get some yummy food delivered to your door with a clear conscience!
